Beetroot Maca-roons

These delicious treats were developed by our Naturya ambassadors Louise with boosting your energy levels in mind, which is why she packed them with beetroot and maca!  Beets are natural energy givers because they're rich in nitrates which support your body's "energy cells" mitochondria. Beets also increase oxygen flow throughout the body, so they are great to help you generally feel more energised and active.

Maca is Louise's go-to for energy and helping with mood. It’s an adaptogenic plant believed to improve the health of the adrenal system, the system in charge of managing your body’s response to stress. Adaptogens help your body better cope with stress by modulating the release of stress hormones from the adrenal glands. If you feel overwhelmed and anxious they can calm you and ground you. If you feel run down and worn out, they can give you energy to get you back on your feet and able to tackle your day again. When it feels like life is coming at you at 200 miles an hour – they can be the trick up your sleeve to help regulate cortisol, and help keep you level-headed and calm when under pressure.


  • 80g desiccated coconut
  • 30g ground almonds
  • 1 tsp beetroot powder (not essential but gives the beautiful pink colour and added energy)
  • 1 tbsp (10g) Naturya Maca Powder
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 40g melted Naturya Coconut Oil
  • 60-80g agave syrup
  • 50g dark chocolate
  • Edible dried flowers, Naturya Cacao Nibs or our delicious Cacao Nibs sweetened with Yacon


  • Blend all ingredients in a food processor until you can form little balls with your hands. If dough is too dry, add some more agave syrup.
  • Melt the chocolate over a water bath/in the microwave and dip each ball in it. 
  • Drizzle with the rest of the chocolate and sprinkle with your toppings. Pop in the fridge for 30 minutes – enjoy!
